07.2026 - June Studio Update
Studio Update: In-progress reflections, upcoming watercolor workshops, and a juried exhibition milestone!
Hi everyone! I hope you are staying cool and enjoying these long sunny days. Lately, summer has had this beautiful, contradictory rhythm for me—moving incredibly fast, yet feeling completely slow-paced all at once. Here are some updates on my paintings, classes, and juried shows.
Studio Practice & New Work
Complete Works

In Progress
This is a painting I started and then I continued to pull out shapes I saw. This is an exercise I like to do when I start to put too much pressure on myself when thinking what to paint.
I wrote a letter to someone and myself on this canvas and I just let the shapes emerge. I really miss my girl on horse painting so I wanted to make another one that’s similar yet different.
Exhibitions & Milestones
June Workshop: A Magical Evening of Wild Flowers & Watercolor
I am still smiling thinking back to our beautiful Summer Days & Wild Flowers workshop! Walking into The Painthouse Art & Sip and seeing a completely full house! Some returning students and many brand-new painters and it warmed my heart.
As a teacher, my absolute favorite moment is that quiet shift in the room when everyone stops worrying about “ perfection” and simply falls into the creative flow. Everyone came together in harmony once we got to the part in the painting where everyone made their unique flower garden with all of their favorite colors. Watching each person’s unique style emerge by the end of the night was incredibly inspiring. To everyone who sat at my tables, laughed through the tricky parts, and shared a cocktail or espresso with me: thank you for making it such an intimate, memorable night.
🎨 Let’s paint together again! If you missed this workshop or want to keep building your watercolor skills, I am returning to the studio on Friday, July 17th to teach my Summer Skies Watercolor Workshop. We will be learning how to capture the vibrant, rich layers of a summer sunset.
Seats go quickly, so I would love for you to grab yours early!

Intro to Oil Painting with Alexandra Collins
It is so important to me to be a continuous learner no matter what. This summer an intro to oil painting course by Alexandra Collins opened up in Ann Arbor and I just had to go. The course is currently two weeks in and I already feel like I learned so many little nuggets of gold that I totally overlooked in my practice. For example color wheels. I have made color wheels before, but I wrote it off as JUST an introductory skill to practice mixing paint and then you move onto the real work. But when I tell you making color wheels has already grown me exponentially. I spent this whole weekend just making color wheels just seeing the wide array of colors you can make with a limited palette. Would highly recommend taking art classes no matter your skill level.
